A few things

First, I don’t have to go to school now. I don’t know if I can go back in September, but I’ll try hard for that. Well, I enjoy the freedom of studying at home, but I will miss school.

Second, I received a letter from the library, saying I got an interview for the job. I don’t know if I got lucky, or they just interview anyone who signs up, but if you got one too, please tell me, because I don’t want to go to Central alone. Anyway, it will be my first ever job interview.

Third, I went to an “intensive course” for Physics yesterday. They just play a video of the “teacher” in the class. I don’t really mind, I don’t need to see the guy too clearly. The style of this kind of class is quite different. The guy just wants to be funny. Well, he says there’s gonna be a question about interference and diffraction, so let’s see. I will have two more lessons only. Really expensive, about $100 per lesson.

Math puzzle

I wonder did anyone actually thought about the puzzle that Mr Lo talked about in the assembly, but I did, and I am glad to say that I solved it rather quickly. I knew the answer before I finished climbing the stairs to the fifth floor.

The puzzle is this: the ten numbers, 0-9, are put into three groups. Group A has 1, 4, 7; B has 2 and 5; C has 3, 6, 8, 0. The question is where 9 is put. Mr Lo said it’s not about calculations.

My solution is like this: In group A, the numbers are formed by straight lines. The numbers in group B are formed partly by straight lines and partly by a curve. Those in group C are entirely in curves. Therefore, 9 can actually be in group B or C, depending on how you write it.

I didn’t find Mr Lo for a confirmation or the prize. I just forgot it and I don’t think I would really find him if I remembered to.

A lab accident

A few days ago we had some experiments in the Chemistry lesson. It’s about sulphuric acid, sulphur dioxide, something like that.

As the title says, I had an accident that day. We took some test tubes from the tray, then I saw that they were dirty. Must have been that the last class did not clean up. So, naturally, I had to clean it with my greatest effort. As I was cleaning one of the test tubes, I felt some pain on my left thumb. It took me a while to notice that it is unusual, as I had had a very little wound there. So, after I knew that there was something wrong, I had to figure out what was wrong. I didn’t know that the test tubes had been used for some experiments about concentrated sulphuric acid. But soon I figured it out. Knowing that acids are corrosive, I immediately washed my poor finger. But what I didn’t know was this: (cited from Wikipedia)

Laboratory hazards
The corrosive properties of sulfuric acid are accentuated by its highly exothermic reaction with water. Hence burns from sulfuric acid are potentially more serious than those of comparable strong acids (e.g. hydrochloric acid), as there is additional tissue damage due to dehydration and particularly due to the heat liberated by the reaction with water, i.e. secondary thermal damage. … In the case of sulfuric acid it is important that the acid should be removed before washing, as a further heat burn could result from the exothermic dilution of the acid. Washing should be continued for a sufficient length of time—at least ten to fifteen minutes—in order to cool the tissue surrounding the acid burn and to prevent secondary damage.

OMG. I totally didn’t know the part about water. I didn’t pay attention in lessons and I don’t do revisions. I have paid for this lesson. And I didn’t wash my finger for 15 minutes, only a few. I wonder what damage is done to my finger. Probably the cells are dead. Who knows if they will grow again?

My poor chemical knowledge, it is going to kill me someday. My friends, learn from my lesson. At least now I will never forget that H2SO4 plus H2O is highly exothermic.

Welcome back!

I know I’ve stopped posting for quite some time, because I was very lazy in the summer. On to what I did in summer …

I did nothing I guess. Except those lessons and playing on Neopets. I hardly did any homework during the holidays. I did most after 1st Sept, because most homework was to be handed in on 5th. Knowing that the deadline is 5th only made me procrastinate for a few more days. So the night before the deadline, I slept at 4AM. It’s my newest record. And I haven’t finished all homework. I just got too desperate, I knew that I couldn’t finish all even if I don’t sleep. So I just left the Chem homework unfinished. I don’t know if Mr Ho Ho had checked my books and found that I had totally two chapters that was not done. If he really did he was quite kind to me.

I don’t know what to write about now, so I’ll stop. I’ll find things to write I guess. Later.

Mr Kan!

Today I went to Metro City and saw Mr Kan and those DT people! What a surprise. I didn’t know they would be there. They were near the stage, probably preparing for some sort of performance. The robots they have there were very familiar to me, of course. Nearly all were from the cupboard outside the DT room. When I went back home to read the mail, I saw that one from Mr Kan about this thing. I liked the surprise!

Shhh…

As it’s summer holiday now, you would expect more posts here. But no, it’s more quiet than ever here. Reasons are 1) I’m lazy, 2) I’m always playing on Neopets, 3) I have homework to do, 4) I’ve worked on a new blog.

What’s that new blog? It’s about CIT. Don’t be disappointed, those of you who don’t study CIT. You can still read it. For those who study CIT and are frustrated that you will never get A for the course work, this is good for you. It sums up what you have heard from Mr Leung, plus (big plus here) my opinions. Curious about what I have to say about this course work? Read my new blog. (Not that I promise an A for you.) Here.

Em, my writing style is going a little crazy, isn’t it? Yeah, this is what you will expect from me. Crazy.

CIT

We’ve had some “lessons” of CIT. Now we have to do something very serious – a part of the CE – a course work. It’s about something called “personal portal”. I have trouble understanding these two words. The question says Xanga.com is an example of personal portal, but that’s a blog, so I don’t get why they have to call it personal portal. Anyway, we have troubles ahead … Because we have to make something like a “personal portal”.

Back.

I haven’t written for a while. I’ve got a story to write, in fact. I had a dream one day and it was sort of exciting and dramatic, so I thought it might be a good idea to write that down. Rarely does one dream of a fairly good story and remember it after waking up.

Problem is, I’ve got no time recently. It’s like the time has disappeared. I’m quite frustrated. And I’ve got loads of homework! Fours days of holidays, and the teachers give away homework like mad. Like four days are a big deal. :/

Lastly, Ms Pig gave me a stupid presentation about the Chinese poet, eh, I don’t think he’s got an English name. I have to talk for 5 minutes. Winkey’s worse, she’s gotta talk 10 minutes. I don’t know what’s gonna happen that day. I’m not even sure when it is. I think it’s Tuesday though.

BTW I just found five spams in the comments of this blog. Don’t worry, you’re not going to see it because some kinda smart system filtered them. Very smart indeed. I’m satisfied. I remember I had one spam posted for everyone to see in MSN Spaces.

Such a fuss

I guess I didn’t checck IT-School emails last night? So many students wrote letters talking about that parent who wrote to the Chief Executive about uniforms. Well, indeed, that parent used some inaccurate language. I don’t know what happened and I’ll never know. So I’m not going to judge. But what those students (except those F1 or 2 students) say sounds quite right to me.

Indeed, I’m not one who likes to follow school rules. But this parent is making too big a fuss. Write to the CE? You sure he will read? Even Apple Daily haven’t written about this matter. And I do think those shoes are boots. That Chinese style coat isn’t appropriate for school either. Ms Mok was rude … hmm, I’m not so surprised. But he said after the teachers asked his daughter a lot of questions, she ran after her and shouted to her, then laughed and went away. That sounds so unlikely. So inhuman. I don’t quite believe this.

Too big a fuss. But the principal can handle this, says Mr Fong.

My sister is in the camp

She went to some kinda camp today with all her friends (all Primary 4 students actually). She’s so small, just Primary 4. We went to the camp only when we were Primary 6. I don’t know why her school tells them to go. (And she’ll have camp in P5 and 6.)

Anyway, she’s gone now, and I have a few days without her. Much quieter, I should say. I don’t find it’s boring because I’m at my Mac anyway.

I think I’ve lost my Chem Activity Book. That’s so bad. I’ve found everywhere but I can’t find it. He needs it tomorrow. I don’t know what I can do. It’s the first two lessons. I must get to school early to borrow it from TK. That’s so difficult to me. Wonder if I can get it from 4C.
